Alexander Wang for H&M

7/15/2014

H&M's designer collaborations have been a roaring success since they began back in 2004 and it's been announced Alexander Wang will be the next designer to create a collection with the Swedish retailer.

The designer who can credit Anna Wintour as one of his early supporters, hails from NY and became famous for his fantastic sweater, which to this day epitomizes his laid back, yet luxuries pieces and clean silhouettes for which he has become so known for.

Beginning his label in 2004 at just 19, Wang went onto win the coveted Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund Award in 2008, and was soon calling Diane von Furstenberg his mentor.  The designer has gone from strength to strength and is now also creative director for one of my personal favorite design houses, Balenciaga.

The collection, which will include women's wear and men's wear collection as well as Wang's popular accessories was announced via his instagram page a couple of months ago and Wang has slowly been giving fans a sneak peak of his items.

"I am honoured to be a part of H&M's designer collaborations." Wang said  "The work with their team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to pushing boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle."

H&M's creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch also spoke about the collaboration "Alexander Wang is one of the most important voices in fashion today," He continued  "He understands exactly what people want to wear and does it with an energy and passion that's infectious. It feels incredible to be collaborating with him this year."

Some of the industries most influential designers such as  from Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson, Versace, Lanvin and Marni, have designed for the high-street brand.

As previously reported here during Isabel Marant collection unveiling, the system went into over drive and completely crashed. Let's see what happens this year!

The collection will be available on November 6.

Shoes, shoes, shoes!

7/14/2014

As the climate changes not only does our wardrobe change but it allows us to wear some of the cutest and most impracticle shoes in our wardrobes! Below are some of the shoes that I saw trending for spring 2014 as well as some new items in my wardrobe! What are your picks?

Metallics!

Metallics are having a moment right now, seen in brogue form in NY fashion week. I'm definitely more of a heel girl and if you're the same, check out these beauts from aldo - the Aenaria.

If flats are more your thing, check out these lovelies from Karen Walker : New York

Neons are a great way to add colour to an otherwise muted outfit, or pick up one of the colors in your outfit by pairing a shoe that matches. A matching colored shoe and bag can also look very chic, especially if you're wearing an all white or black outfit. I bought these Aldo shoes last month and just love them. They match perfectly with my Topshop mint jumper, which I paired with some Prada capris a few of weeks ago when I was in London.

Strappy Happy:

I have to be honest, I love stappy shoes but always find them a bit tricky as at only 5ft 4 I'm on the shorter side and find that extra precious inch of leg very important and don't like to cut it off! However this season I've seen so many cute pairs and realized if I pair them with capris, or a dress that hits me just slightly above the knee, it won't affect my leg length aesthetically at least! I bought two pairs from Dune, one in nude /pinky and one in black. I love them with overalls, a tuxedo style wrap dress or capris- or even a pair of skinny or boyfriend cropped jeans. They're so comfortable and I love the ankle detailing.

Gladiator sandals:

These have been huge for a while and everyone is loving Matt Bernson's sandals in LA. Jessica Alba practically lives in hers! Now available in the UK as well as the US.
What are your fav shoes for spring / Summer?

4th July Weekend!!

7/7/2014

I recently celebrated my first 4th July weekend in LA. It was a weekend full of parties! Being English I was (obviously) given a bit of stick over the weekend haha but it was a lot of fun, with bbqs, parties and cook outs at friends houses. We even managed to squeeze in a night at Booty- LA, a fun club where you dance the night away with a room full of people who just, well, love to dance!! I had to poke fun of being a Brit in LA on this holiday and chose this outfit for the morning of July 4th haha. Tongue in cheek of course!!

It was fun goofing around with the holiday. For one of the BBQ parties followed by night out I attended it was a red white and blue dress up theme. I managed to find this (guys!) vest from H&M. I loved it because it had half the British Flag on it, half the US flag. I bought it in extra small and tucked it in to my BCBG Sheer lace covered shorts. Pictured here with my fav fellow Umiami Alumni and now LA girl!

Earlier on in the day, we ironically went to a British style pub and chowed down before any drinking commenced! Hope everyone had a fab weekend!

Always Campaign- Like a Girl

7/1/2014

Run like a girl

It's not often that I write a non-fashion related blog, but I saw this Always campaign the other day and it really struck a cord with me. In my blog I always talk about fashion, and in my own way I see it as a celebration of women. Our right to love fashion, care about what we look like, without being deemed an airhead for it.  I love what Always have done with this campaign and think it's so valuable for young girls to understand, being a 'girl' is a pretty wonderful thing.

So thank you for this important campaign, Always and the message it's giving out to our young girls and boys. Every girl should certainly be proud to say they 'run like a girl' :)
