VICTORIA BECKHAM'S FIRST STORE OPENING : LONDON

There was a flurry outside number 36 Dover Street in London on Thursday 25th September as fans waited for Victoria Beckham's first store to open.  One noticeable person absent from the opening however was VB herself.  However she was off on a much bigger and greater cause than fashion. She had been named Goodwill Ambassador and was in New York giving a speech at the UN.

Back at the store on the other side of the pond the 6,000 sq ft space stood in all its grander. A stunning almost art gallery feel, showcasing her clothes to perfection in a minimalist setting.

The space has mirrored walls with concrete staircases and clothes hanging in a way to exhibit them in their best light.

This is the first store for Victoria, who after launching her brand in 2008 has seen her brand become nothing short of a small empire that just continues to expand.

The store took two years to realize. She worked with the architect Farshid Moussavi, who's design aesthetic Victoria loved, despite never having worked in retail architecture, the modern, clean cut of Moussavi's aesthetic is akin to the Victoria Beckham clothing line.

Moussavi also happens to be one of the most successful female contemporary architects around . She was the mastermind behind the design of the London Olympic Park as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland, Ohio which perhaps is the reason why the store has such a modern art gallery feel to it. Another reason the two women were so similar in their style? Moussavi is extremely glamorous and wears five-inch heels to site meetings. A girl after VB's own heart.

A lot of thought and detail went into the creation of the shop. The store, built on three levels took a huge amount of work with the second floor grid ceiling taking seven builders, seven days a week for 9 weeks to complete.

As with an art gallery, there are no tills in sight, simple iPads are used for all purchases and neither are there any mannequins adorning the clothes. The front of the shop, unassuming, sans window displays, with just a simple Victoria Beckham sign out front.

The store opening was a classy sophisticated event, with the customers being welcomed in as they were surrounded by the stores signature scent, Diptyque’s Feu de Bois candles and handed a glass of champagne.

Customers and fans of Victoria Beckham spoke highly of the store as they left, praising the stylish architectural design of the store which is so coherent with the rest of the Victoria Beckham brand. The shop seemed to bring her customer closer to her with one saying:

“The shop is a real showcase for the beautiful pieces: architecture-wise it is so impressive and it lets the clothes speak for themselves,” continuing, “She’s so stylish isn’t she and her collection is just so lovely so it’s brilliant. I’m a long-term fan of Victoria and I think her style is fabulous and things you can wear forever. This shop is a real testament to that.”

The lower ground floor level is reserved for VIP customers. It's rumored that the Beckham's daughter Harper was gifted a £600,000 Damien Hirst pink heart decorated with butterflies for her first birthday. This same piece hangs on the wall, whilst the rest of the space is kept clean.

VICTORIA BECKHAM- NAMED UNITED NATIONS GOODWILL AMBASSADOR

Victoria Beckham's highly anticipated store opening happened yesterday, however something even more important for the designer was taking place. She was named the newest Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations.

As a surprise to many, Victoria Beckham skipped the opening of her first store in London's Dover street to speak in New York for the UN.

Victoria Beckham has been involved in many charities in the past, including Sir Elton John's Aid's foundation.  She also recently visited South Africa where she went out to support Born Free, a foundation that focuses on the issue of transmitting HIV from mothers to their children.

When she returned she knew that she had to do something to help raise awareness and money for the cause. The first way to help? Donate a large portion of her wardrobe to net-a-porter to sell online. The money made went to Mothers2Mothers, a non profit organization helping the transference of HIV's to babies.

At the United Nations, Victoria Beckham spoke of her "responsibilities as a woman and a mother" and using her voice to help bring light to this cause. She will work with UNAIDS, the UN's HIV and Aids charity.

Victoria admitted she was still learning and was being mentored along the way, but went on to say, "It's taken me getting to 40 to realise I have a responsibility as a woman and a mother,"

"I recently visited South Africa and was so touched by the women I met. I felt inspired and I came home and knew I had to do something."

Jeremy Scott just sent his second ready to wear collection down the runway.  Incase you missed here, here's a quick recap of his first collection!

McDonald’s - logo with the infamous yellow golden gates, and unconventional SpongeBob Square Pants sweaters.

Scott killed it with fun again this collection with his bright colors and surprise twist, creating a barbie themed show. The excitement was palpable and his audience, completely engaged.

The show opened with "Hiya, Barbie!" from the speakers and the first model walked with a barbie platinum blonde wig, pink candy coloured lipstick and bright fuchsia cropped leather jacket and mini skirt.

Other highlights were a one piece bikini's imprinted on a bright orange dress, a strapless fitted jacket with the model wearing a matching bow in hair, and decadent yet funky short train at the back and a yellow terry toweling dressing gown worn as a coat. Pure fantasy.

Backstage, speaking about the collection Scott said "Like every girl and gay boy, I loved Barbie," continuing, "It's hard not to; she's practically perfect". "She's a good big sister, she's had every job in the world, worn every outfit. And it's just joyful. Her and I share the same things: We just want to bring joy to people."

The show was a party, a collection of color and tongue in cheek fashion, and a reminder that fashion is after-all meant to be fun!

Take a look at the full collection below:

ALEXANDER WANG - RTW 2015.

Alexander Wang's RTW 2015 collection was all about embracing the sports luxe trend. Before the show, Wang even said “As everyone knows, there’s an infatuation with sneakers right now,”

Soon we were able to see why Wang made this statement. His show was filled with absolute sports luxe inspiration despite there not being a sneaker in sight.

The show was solid, and inexplicably Wang, fuss free with a strong aesthetic. With the striking use of patterns and wearable cut outs and as always, a casual 'I just threw this on but still look fabulous' feel.

The collection was feminine yet strong, with flared skirts and the use of mesh bodices. Wang wouldn't name exact sports label inspirations behind his collection but that sports inspiration was there, in abundance. One piece even mirrored the sole of a sneaker with a lace up collar to finish off the look.

The overall vibe being sports like sculptured, with athletic fits with flashes of color just like a pair of sneakers. The bar code pattern over a jacket gave a tux like feel to evening wear.

The collection also had a fantastic evening wear selection with body con dresses with beautifully placed colour flashes to flatter the body with stunningly placed pleats. Some of my favorite looks came from the beautifully cut tailored trousers with cross over crop tops. A firm favorite of mine. Another absolute winner from Wang.

Romance and dream like, Oscar de la Renta created a stunning spring collection which was a fairytale on the runway.

The use of Ginham has been the surprise trend seen at New York Fashion week which Oscar de la Renta continued by creating his own version to open his collection.

The collection was made up of coats, pencil skirts and crop tops.  Before taking us to evening with another stunning collection of cocktail dresses and embroider flower motif dresses, and billowing finishes to the bottom of both the skirts and dresses to create a truly romantic feel. Absolutely stunning pieces that I've no doubt we'll be seeing on the red carpet very soon.

My FAVORITE pieces from the collection:

THE ROW SPRING 2015 : ny fashion week

The Row- always a perfect embodiment of what Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen stand for. Elegant, classic clean lines that so many chic women can relate to.

The spring collection gave a calm, serene feel with the details in the draping, taking them from a simple item to a striking and stunning piece, particularly in the draped silhouettes of the dresses.

Speaking of the collection the twins said they researched materials and became drawn to raw silks which wove their way into the collection. The romantic material gave off an almost eastern feel.

My favorite pieces from the collection has to be the front tied coat and shorter jacket with billowed sleeves and back tie. Two pieces that would become a classic in your wardrobe.

Classic elegance personified.

Diane Von Furstenberg - RTW 2015

Diane von Furstenberg made a departure from her usual staples for this RTW 2015 collection. The backdrop to show her collection was a studio filled with sunlight, a suitable atmosphere for her beautiful spring collection.  The collection was heavily made up of day clothes, with not a wrap dress in sight.

The inspiration behind the collection, the fifties, The French Riviera, the glamour years. The pattern of choice was gingham in an abundance of colors and black and white. The collection was made up of matching shorts and tops, maxi dresses with thigh slips and midi length skirts and crop tops, even throwing in a matching bag.

This is one of my favorite collections from DVF so far and is getting me excited about Michael Herts; DVF's new artistic director who was formally with Bally as creative directive and fashion curator. Michael was also responsible for curating DVF's "Journey of a Dress" showcasing the development of DVF's famous wrap dress on its 40th anniversary.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: Victoria beckham

Victoria Beckham's brands has gone from strength to strength and now, for the first time Victoria Beckham showed not just her new clothes and bags collection at NY Fashion week but also in addition her shoe line.

The shoe line was definitely an unexpected one from VB. Instead of towering heels she homed in on the new pointed toe flat trend, low loafers some of which were patterned with roses. She added some height to her collection with some platform sandals in both leopard and black.

Victoria Beckham is still undecided as to whether she will make them available for retail. At the moment she said they, "complete and strengthen the silhouette" she showcased on the runway so created them to see her full image come to life.

This has been another big year for Victoria as her very first flagship store will be opening in London, Dover Street. Of the store, Victoria says, has pushed her to "focus on the DNA of [the] brand more than ever."

Victoria Beckham so known for her wonderful tailoring has now fine tuned it to show softer edged silhouettes and introduced new prints to the collection.

One of my favorite items from Victoria Beckhams collection has always been her coats. With the luxury fabric, and beautiful tailoring, with one lapel makes for the most classic of pieces and just perfect as we move into Autumn.
