Zoe hasn't had her own show since the The Rachel Zoe Project. The show ran for 5 seasons and catapulted Zoe to one of America's most well known stylists.
Fans could follow her daily life as she styled her then celebrity clients including Eva Mendez, Cameron Diaz, liv Tyler and Anne Hathaway. The show allowed its viewers to see the quirky stylists obsession with fashion, and hear her now famous catchphrases, including "I die", and "That's bananas". The show tracked the expansion of her company as she went from celebrity stylist to designer, with the opening of her first store in stores at Bloomingdales.
The show followed Zoe go through some of the biggest changes in her personal life as well as the expansion of her business, including the birth of her first son Skye.
The new show will focus less on her personal life and more on her business. Speaking of the new tv show Zoe said that hosting a show was also a childhood dream of hers, “Honestly, since I was 13, I had always wanted to do a talk show,” continuing, “I was always fascinated by people.”
Zoe certainly has the personality for it, and as seen in the Rachel Zoe Project, she was certainly better off script, than on allowing her true personality to come out. So far only the pilot episode has been filmed but all eight episodes of the half hour show are being produced by Hudsun Media, with Kay O’Connell, Michael Rourke, with Rachel Zoe and Berman serving as executive producers. Other executive producers on the show are Lifetime exec producers Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and David Hillman.
Although nothing has been confirmed, the dream list for Zoe's guest appearance would include Gwyneth Paltrow, designer and singer Gwen Stefani and actress Jessica Alba. Ensuring full exposure of her company, the show is set to be filmed in the penthouse of her corporate headquarters, on LA's fashionable Melrose Avenue.
Although the Rachel Zoe Project was meant to centre around Zoe's business with aspects of her personal life shown, the show definitely had its dramas with her assistant, Taylor leaving her business after a series of disputes. Of the new show, Zoe says, “It’s definitely going to be lighthearted and fun and fashion and style-centric,”.
In other Zoe news, Zoe's online report, The Rachel Zoe Report, highlighting trends, and 'how to' features are now allowing viewers to shop both the content and advertisements featured on the website directly from The Zoe Report. Bringhub is a web publications that allows shoppers to buy directly from one site, instead of diverting buyers to other retailers. The new technology is still going through its testing stage but is set to fully launch this month.
CEO and co-founder, Dominik Pantelides, said of the site, “We’re making digital advertisements shoppable,” continuing, “So Calvin Klein, for example, their fall collection comes out and they have an image advertisement. What we can do is, in the cart window pop-up we can sell their complete fall collection without the consumer leaving the page.”
Speaking of Bringhub, Tom Balamaci, managing director of The Zoe Report explained that although Bringhub allows the readers to purchase the items from their website, they wouldn't be fulfilling the order, Nordstrom for example would still box the item up and fulfill the order, adding, "Our goal in all of this is to make it super simple and seamless for the reader.”
“The user experience is the most valuable piece here,” he said. “If the reader’s not happy, it doesn’t matter if the publisher or retailer is. The reader will just go somewhere else.”
