Fall 2019 tells the story of travels through Southeast Asia. Reflecting the beauty of the land through the collections luxurious material, whilst the architecture is mirrored through the pieces silhouettes.
Resembling the visual rhythm of Southeast Asia's layered roofs, with pleated-tulle tiers and pronounced seams and the stupas with its hemispherical structure and spires are echoed in the beautiful textures.
The tailored draping is the influence of Buddhist monks who frequent the temples. Their robes made unique from one another by the difference in their folds. Depending on the region, lineage and temple they originate from, as the method of draping holds as much history in their technique as the temples themselves.
Tadashi Shoji has managed to perfectly embody the essence of Southeast Asia with his use of color and materials such as the elegant gold details and silk brocades that all symbolise the grace and beauty of the culture. Taking the broad spectrum of Asian dress, but finding the common ground in their elegance and femininity.
Capturing the rich world of Southeast Asia, a blend of mystery and beguiling nature and the never ending places to explore, starting with the inspiration of floating markets, powerful landscape and architecture.
Tadashi Shoji’s inspiration is beautifully reflected in this stunning collection, still staying true to the pieces synonymous with the designer. That of femininity, delicate materials and all the while retaining a strength that reflects todays modern woman.
